Lee Seokhoon performed EXO "Love Me Right" with an "Uptown Funk" dance break in the middle for the King's Round

During the previous hitouch, Hiichan roomed with Kangchan for the 1st timeSaying things like "You can take a bath 1st~" or "Quickly go wash your face" when Hiichan woke up, she felt more like older sister, 'Hyewon unnie' rather than the usual 'Kangchan. There's only 1 member Hiichan hasn't roomed with before... unexpectedly, it's Chaewon unnie! She's kinda surprised too. WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT NCT U FIRST MV

Two months after the teasers, NCT U’s first MV was released. As I said on my previous post, the MV is basically an updated version of Teaser #2’s backstage happening on the main stage, except for the substitution of Hansol by Doyoung. We also see some marble walls and colorful lights.
The video starts with a scene of the five boys in what looks like a foyer. A forest adorns the corridor in front of them, taking us back to Ten’s scenario and the dreams of living life into the wild. It’s one of the only scenes where they appear together besides the choreography ones, which makes me think the video is not on a chronological order and that this is, instead, a scene from the ending, where they’re already free from their boxes and reunited in a dream.

In Teaser #2, Taeyong was wearing a leather jacket that could be seen as his entrance in the celebrity life he will have by debuting. Here, he dresses himself in stars, a materialization of his dreams.

The ice can also represent a longing to be eternalized, frozen in time, like the celebrities on his suspenders. But before entering the eternal, it’s necessary to burn and scar the world first.

An interesting fact is that Taeyong and Mark helped writing the lyrics (something new to debuts under SM):

In this cold world, I’m closing my eyes

Laying down in bed, covering my ears

Yesterday is today, today is yesterday

I’m only filled with late self-guilt

*Sidenote: The celebrities as clothing patterns were used again in this live, where he’s wearing a jacket full of celebrities’ faces and Doyoung wears a Marilyn Monroe sweater. In this one, Jaehyun wears the suspenders instead.

Following up, we see Doyoung and his mirrored box. Between so many reflections, which one could possibly be the real one? Between so many ways to see oneself, how to know if what we’re seeing is not a dream, or worse, someone else’s dream? Through Doyoung’s perspective of substituting Hansol, the mirror box makes us think: does he sees himself as a substitution too?

I’m a mess, I don’t even know myself,

my future is colored darkly

I’m struggling, coloring this night even blacker

The celebrity world represents a constant look to one’s image and its reflections. It’s not a coincidence that one of the biggest tabloids in the UK is called The Mirror. When third parts follow your every step, it’s hard to separate yourself from their visions about you.

The last one to appear is Mark, in what is the best part of the song. His 3-sided box reminds us of a shrine, where he’s the relic (coincidentally or not, he’s wearing a rosary on his neck). This image once again parallels with the idea of fame, where celebrities are worshipped as passionately as religious figures.

Besides that, even if his walls appear more solid and opaque than the others’, he’s the one who can most easily escape, by descending from his altar as soon as his consciousness allows him.

In the lyrics, he describes the feeling of being in a limbo, not sure of what’s happening, and struggling with the reality/dream dichotomy:

I’m still going somewhere

To an unknown place, to an unknown hall

I’m spending most of my time

In a place that’s uncomfortable even

after several nights, like an explorer

Uh, and that’s a long ass ride

Mindlessly going around until I close my eyes

I’m doubting this moment, between dreams and reality

I have something else to check,

just like you right now, uh

This whole narrative is also mixed with individual shots in black and white or double exposures with various elements, creating yet another layer of meaning. Even if more than one member appeared with a specific element, I did my analysis according to the element that fit the most with their respective boxes:

Mark and the road: As he says, “it’s a long ass ride” and the nocturnal image of a road describes this exploration and restlessness about what awaits him in the future.
Doyoung and the glitch: This scene appears only in his individual teaser, and translates in image the misplacement Doyoung feels. He’s off the air. In the MV, he also appears with the shards of glass, suggesting he broke his own mirror and his perception of himself.

The continuity between the scenes is there, but in a much more subtle way. It’s perceptible that the boys are in rooms of the same house, and it’s implied that they meet at some point, since the initial scene and the choreography ones show them together.

Like a lucid dream, they can see themselves and comprehend what happens, even if everything is too unstable. The warning to open your eyes is still there. The truth is being revealed, may it be the waking up from dreams, or the group’s debut.

Taeyong and the fire: the opposite of all the ice we found in the beginning of the MV. Can also be a suggestion of breaking the lights, which contain heat, and heat is an attribute of fire. Debuting, Taeyong is taking his first steps into scarring the world and leaving his mark.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT KPOP IDOLS AND KOREAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

Idol Is A ‘Well-Paying’ Job But It Won’t Last Long And The Artists Have To Trade Many Things In Their Younger Years.
In early 2019, the Korean public was amazed by the huge wealth of IU and Yoon Ah. IU purchased a plot of land near the GTX high-speed metro line project in the suburbs of Gyeonggi Province. The land has skyrocketed from 4.6 billion won to 6.9 billion won, helping the singer earn 2.3 billion won. Yoon Ah also bought a building that costs 10 billion won in Cheongdam-dong, the most expensive area in Seoul.

IU and Yoon Ah shocked people for owning expensive real estate.
Netizens think that the idols are making too much money. Celebrities are buying most of the most expensive areas in Seoul, they even raise the price higher than the actual price. A part of Korean people is angry because of the rich and poor gap between artists and ordinary workers. Singers and actors are living too easily, doing just little but having an unbelievably high income. Many idols who are just over 20 or 30 years old have owned many real estate, with remarkable fortune. So is idol really an easy job with a high salary as many people imagine? Is the artist’s income too much compared to the effort they took?

IDOLS’ JOB MUST HAVE INVESTMENT AND RISK
Idols start practicing in their teenage years. Ever since they were in middle high school, they spent time in dance centers, preparing for the auditions for entertainment companies. The members of EXO, BTS, Wanna One, Twice, Black Pink, Red Velvet… all spent their youth in the practice rooms and underwent stressful tests. While other students enjoy spending time with their friends and family, having romantic relationships, trainees locked themselves in the practice room, the only places they went to were their home and their company. Minzy (2NE1) said that she felt lost because she couldn’t go to school regularly, she only talked with other members or the employees in the company, making it difficult for her to adapt to the life outside YG.

JYP trainee
Ever since entering the company, the trainees have signed a contract that gave them a huge debt. It is the investment for courses, dormitory, and managers. The family and the trainees themselves are accepting a significant debt without knowing whether or not they are successful enough to pay. There are many idols who have to work for years without getting paid because they have to pay for their training fees. Many places also take advantage of contract terms to make female artists promote with erotic images, revealing clothes and disturbing dancing in the events.

The future of idol career is insecure unless you can join big companies that ensure your success like SM, JYP and YG. More and more teenagers are dreaming of being an idol but this is also a profession that requires serious and risky investment.

THE WORK IS ALWAYS SCRUTINIZED AND RECEIVED TONS OF CRITICISM
If you are sensitive with criticism and discomfort when being judged on the outside, being an idol is definitely not the right job for you. The idols are always scrutinized about talents, looks, and actions, words in every situation. Most idols have beautiful visual but in the eyes of Korean netizens, only a small defect also becomes the subject of jokes and discrimination. Cha Eun Woo (Astro) burst into tears in the concert revealing a lot of acne-prone skin. Wendy (Red Velvet) pursues an anti-scientific diet to avoid being chubby. Minzy (2NE1) is psychologically affected by being badly criticized by Daddy Yang and netizens … Only a bad photo and a sloppy image will be enough to make the idol receive hundreds, thousands of hate comments, putting great pressure on them.

Cha Eun Woo revealed his face with acne at the event.

Wendy lost weight to the point of being skinny.
Korea is a country that focuses on codes of politeness, especially among seniors – juniors. Just a mistake like standing in the wrong position or an unfriendly gaze will be enough to make a person become a center of criticism. Idols are watched everywhere from the stage, at the airport or even while sitting backstage. Many groups, idols are troubled because they do not enthusiastically support the artists who are performing on stage. The idols have to get used to the camera lens all the time, ready to be bashed for the slightest mistakes. Netizen is only interested in scandals but rarely pay attention to the main postings.

JooE and Nancy were bashed for … glaring at Black Pink.

SNSD members have been criticized for their lack of enthusiasm for interviews.
SNSD members have been criticized for their lack of enthusiasm for interviews.
Immediately after falling in love, idols were also watched and protested. Dispatch paparazzi are ready to follow the idol everywhere, trying to figure out how to photograph the idols. For idol careers, dating will only damage the career, causing a segment of fans to turn their back on them. Seol Hyun, Jennie are girls who receive countless criticism when revealing dating information. Hyun Ah and E’Dawn were even kicked out of the company. Love stories between stars are always watched and scrutinized and most couples break up because they are too busy or are put under pressure from fans and management companies.

Jennie received much sarcasm when she revealed dating information with Kai.
The image of Seol Hyun sneaking to Zico's house to date has been mocked by netizens.

Anyone can be depressed, regardless of career. In Korea, artists are particularly vulnerable to psychological illnesses due to pressure from the public and from success. Jong Hyun (SHINee) suicide was a big shock to K-pop. After the departure of male and female singers like Minzy and Lee Hi, Woo Young revealed that he was also depressed and understood Jong Hyun’s thoughts. These shares are alarm bells for fans and netizens. The public should have a sympathetic look, reduce harsh comments, stop offending artists and hide behind social networking accounts while being insensitive to the pain of others.

The departure of Jong Hyun shocked the public.
The Career Has A Short Lifespan And A Tight Schedule

The age of the K-pop group is 7 years and that is usually only for successful, popular groups. Idol debut at the age of 20 and worked hard for a few years before being replaced by more youthful juniors. When the group starts to gain popularity, the idol will be exhausted in tight schedules like promoting, closing ads, recording shows, filming movies. Artists devote the most glorious years of their career to earn enough income for the remaining years. To have huge amounts of money, artists must sacrifice their personal and healthy lives. And to make sure that when they are no longer active, idols still have a comfortable and stable life, most of them choose to invest in real estate, open restaurants, and cafes.

During the MAMA awards ceremony, Jin (BTS) revealed shocking information that the group nearly disband because of both mental and physical pressures when it was too successful and had many schedules. Jeong Yeon (Twice) also opened her heart about the difficult time. Twice is almost active all year, with no rest time. The singer cried because she felt sorry for not being able to show 100% in front of fans. At the end of 2018, Tzuyu, Mina, Momo missed some events because of exhaustion.

BTS’s tears and sharing at MAMA 2019 touched their colleagues and fans.
Throughout the age of 20, idols only know how to work and rarely have time for themselves. When it comes to the slope of the career, many stars enjoy the available assets. That is the result of years of work to exhaustion.

Suzy was born in 1994 but has been among the highest-paid stars in Kbiz.

G-Dragon is one of the richest stars in Kbiz, owning many expensive cars and watches.
If you look at the wealth of properties, apartments, brands, and expensive tours of Kpop stars, many people will think that this is the most desirable job. In fact, only those who accept to trade the youth, try their best, have enough talent and lucky enough can become a star. Idols are a “high-paying” job but short-lived and artists must chase things out of the most brilliant youth.

Several South Korea Law that is created because of Kpop idols

In every unfortunate situation, there will still be a light of hope to withstand all the difficulties and misfortune. Here are several laws that is created due the misfortune of idols who has experience it the hard way, that hopefully will make other idols / people who work in the same entertainment industry, a better work environment.

JYJ's Law
JYJ, former members of TVXQ,had filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment on July 31st, 2009. The conflict was resolved on November 2012 as both parties agreed to terminate all contracts and not meddle in each others’ affairs from that point on. The “JYJ Law,” a proposed amendment to Korea’s broadcasting act preventing third parties from blacklisting certain individuals or groups from appearing on television

Specifically, the amendment prohibits broadcasting companies from preventing appearances of an individual or group on a show due to a third party’s request that is unrelated to the production of a show, or due to a request that comes from a third party even after a certain individual or group has been legally cleared to appear on a show.

If a broadcasting company violates this policy, the Korea Communications Commission can issue a corrective order or charge a fine of up to two percent of the company’s sales.

Assemblywoman Choi Min Hee, who was at the head of this proposal, said, “With this law, the rights of artists like JYJ whose television appearances have been interfered with as well as the rights of the fans who want to see these artists on television are guaranteed.”

JYJ’s agency C-JeS said, “We’ve fought with the unfair conditions for seven years, and we’re thankful that we weren’t alone in opposing it. We hope that with this amendment, these unjust actions will no longer occur in the entertainment industry.”

However, doubt remains, as the decision of who appears on shows has always been and remains the show producer’s right, making application of the law potentially difficult. Even when JYJ’s fans had protested the prevention of the group appearing on shows, producers had denied such accusations, saying that they’re the ones that have the final say in show casting.

Sulli's Law

On Oct 2019, Sulli decide to take away her life, assumed due to the burden from all the cyber bullying that has happened to her for these past 10 years.  Not only that, her agency, Sm entertainment has failed to give the lovely idols some counter measure, when sulli herself has act SM so many times to take legal action about malicious comments toward her.

Lawmakers in Korea are proposing the ‘Sulli Act’ to counter cruel comments online. The bill was reportedly proposed by nine members of the National Assembly, and will be supported by 200 celebrities who were friends or colleagues of Sulli or those who have experienced such abuse themselves.

The report also claims that 100 organisations including the Global Culture & Art Solidarity, Federation of Korean Trade Unions, and Korean Government Employee’s Union will support the bill. Sulli’s Act will be proposed officially in early December at the National Assembly.

CEMA joined hands with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) told the media: ‘We will no longer stand idly by, and we will do our best to eradicate cyber violence and malicious commenters. As other victims have done in the past, we will take the spreading of rumours and malicious comments and the crimes of the commenters very seriously, and we will no longer overlook these issues.’

Kim Saeron's Law

Korean government has acted, releasing a law to monitor how and when minors perform. Two portions of the new law will affect pop performers particularly. One, performers under the age of 15 won't be able to work more than 35 hours, and those between 15-18 can't work more than 40 hours. The trouble comes in defining "work." Does doing publicity count? Does being present at a concert venue prior to going onstage count? The law does allow that "exceptions can be made for projects requiring long-distance travel."

Minors will also be barred from practicing their craft between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. That statute can be pushed aside if parental permission is granted however (because parents have always been proven to know what's best for their star child's health).

The country's notoriously unregulated entertainment industry will have to guarantee minors the right to sleep, learn and say no to being sexualized beginning July 29.  A new law introduced in South Korea will forbid underage singers and actors from taking part in overnight performances and productions and from being coerced into sexualized portrayals.

Breaking the law will result in a recommendation of correction from the culture ministry, and failure to comply will yield a fine of roughly $10,000.

In addition, one can face up to five years in prison for forcing underage talent to act out rape or sexual harassment scenes. Onlookers have voiced concern, for example, about 14-year-old actress Kim Sae-ron's engaging yet disconcerting performance in the child abuse drama A Girl at My Door, which premiered earlier this year at Cannes.

Two years in prison or a $10,000 fine is the punishment for employing minors in commercial endorsements for drugs or venues and items deemed harmful for juveniles.

Male Idols Military's Law
In September 2017, changes to the South Korean Military Service Law had made a huge splash in the K-Pop community. The changes made did not allow idols to delay their conscription any longer once the Military Manpower Association notified them of their enlistment.

Recently, the law has undergone an even bigger change. On May 29, 2018, an amendment makes it impossible for any South Korean male who is 28 or older to delay their enlistment for any reason other than medical. Additionally, any male who are 25 to 27-years-old have to receive permission to travel. These males can only obtain 5 foreign travel permits. Each of these permits allows up to 6 months of being overseas, and the total length of the 5 permits cannot exceed 24 months.

THE MOST UNFORTUNATE REUNION IN KPOP INDUSTRY

We might got a reunion that most of the fans of this group wanted more than ever, since 4 to 5 years ago. But this reunion is never been thought or wanted, at least not like this one. We know that in Kpop industry, any Kpop groups are bound to be disbanded in time due to popularity fading, bad management or contract issues. This specific group hasn't been made a come back for 4 to 5 years, the official name for the fandom has only created too late, when the group was in the brink of disbandment. Yes, you've guessed correctly, it's no other than f(x), girl group from Sm entertainment.
fx is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. The group is composed of four members: Victoria, Amber, Luna, and Krystal. Originally a five-piece group, Sulli left the group in August 2015. Their last proper MV, "Four walls" was released 4 years ago, on October 27, 2015. Although on 21 July, 2016, fx actually released another new song, titled " All Mine", with a pretty decent low cost MV for SM station short project.

And if we talk about their last live performance as a group, it's so hard to see them on stage with complete members, most of the time, it's only 3 of them who is available. Many fans of fx, who has been loyal since their debut days, are waiting and hoping the group might be together again in the future, no matter how long it will take. Unfortunately, their prayer might be granted with some breakdown.... all the 5 original fx members might be reunited once again for the funeral of its member, our beautiful cheerful red queen, Sulli.
Sina stated, "According to the other actors who were on set to film a drama with Victoria, Victoria burst out in tears after hearing about the death, and she looked confused and disordered. She tried to fly to Korea day earlier, but because of visa issues, she went to Beijing from Shanghai, where her drama filming was, and departed to Korea on the night of the 15th."

Just a little bit earlier, there is a news of fx member, Amber, who was in U.S, are postponing her tour activities to fly to Seoul.  Amber Liu cancels upcoming activities after death of former f(x) bandmate Sulli. The 27-year-old wrote on her Instagram story: ‘Due to recent events I’ll be putting on hold my upcoming activities. Sorry everyone. ‘Thank you for your thoughts.’

There is still no news about the other fx member: krystal and luna, since the news about Sulli's funeral is kept private as what her family wanted to be. But fans are sure that they will attend the last farewell of their beloved maknae, Sulli.

It seems that All 5 fx members will be reunited but not in a way the fans ever expected nor desired

[BREAKING] ALL KOREA ENTERTAINMENT BAD NEWS THROUGH 2019

It seems that 2019 wasn't a good year for Korean Entertainment industry since there is a lot of bad news surrounding the year, although people might think that 2018 could be the worst. Here are several bad news this year of 2019:

1. Wanna one disbandment
Although many fans already know that it's a temporary group for the popular survival program, produce 101, doesn't mean that it isn't a bad news for the fans. They might have prepared themselves with the inevitable disbandment, but it never be enough time to cope with the farewell.

2. Jenny blackpink and Exo Kai break up
We might have a good news about a dating news for two ideal couple of kpop scene, yet, in under 2 months, there is already a break up news for this beautiful couple. Nothing is forever, especially in dating for kpop idols. It seems that both the agency doesn't want their idols to date with each other because of the long time rivalry between YG and SM entertainment, and because both of Jenny and Kai are their valuable assets.

3. Seungri's burning sun scandal

The Burning Sun scandal, also known as the Burning Sun gate, is a 2019 entertainment and sex scandal in Seoul, South Korea which involved several celebrities, including Korean idols of popular K-pop groups, and police officials. It surprised a lot of kpop fans because it's such a big issues back then. Systemic corruption has allowed the country’s ruling class to act above the law and women are paying the price.

Moon ordered investigations not just into Burning Sun, but into the police force, due to accusations of cover-ups at the club and others in the Gangnam and Hongdae districts, and also into alleged crimes committed by Kim Hak-eui in 2009 and Jang Ja-yeon’s death the same year.

Kim Hak-eui resigned from his role of vice justice minister in 2013 after video emerged of him allegedly raping a woman at a sex party at the home of businessman Yoon Jung-cheon five years earlier. The case was investigated twice in 2013 and 2014 but was thrown out despite the video, with prosecutors arguing that Kim could not be identified. An independent panel under the Ministry of Justice has concluded the original investigations were flawed and Kim has now been indicted on charges of receiving 170 million won ($143,700) and sexual favors in bribes from a construction contractor. The investigation did not confirm the rape allegation.

The tragic case of actress Jang Ja-yeon, who said she had been forced into sex by her agency, has also been reviewed. Jang, who starred in the K-drama TV hit Boys over Flowers, killed herself in 2009, leaving a seven-page note identifying 20 of the men allegedly involved, including influential figures in the entertainment and media industry. The review found that the police and prosecution failed to properly investigate her death, but as the list could not be found, there was not enough evidence to re-open the case.

4. Girlgroup Pristin disbandment
According to the report, the members and Pledis Entertainment held discussions and ultimately decided on disbandment. Pledis Entertainment confirmed the news and revealed that members Nayoung, Roa, Yuha, Eunwoo, Rena, Xiyeon, and Kyla have terminated their contracts with the agency. Kyulkyung, Yehana, and Sungyeon will be staying with Pledis Entertainment. PRISTIN was Pledis Entertainment’s first girl group following After School. Seven members were known prior to debut through Mnet’s “Produce 101” with Kyulkyung and Nayoung becoming final members of IOI. Members Kyulkyung, Yehana, and Sungyeon expressed their intent to stay with the company. We will actively support Kyulkyung, Yehana, and Sungyeon so that they can have stable individual activities. We will wholeheartedly support them so that they can be more active and have more diverse activities. As for the PRISTIN members who will be leaving our agency, we would like to express our deep thanks to them and sincerely support them and their new paths even though their official contracts have ended.

5. Kpop boygroup, boyfriend disbandment
On May 17, the agency posted a video to Boyfriend’s official Twitter account, pulling together various video clips showing the members’ happy and smiling faces.
Starship announced the disbandment as they wrote in the caption, “We sincerely thank them for their passion and heart as proud artists of Starship. We will not forget all the moments we’ve had together.”
We had serious discussions with the members of Boyfriend about future activities, and after much deliberation, we have come to the agreement to official end group activities on May 16, 2019 with the conclusion of their contract.

15. Voting scandal and Produce 101 controversies
CJ ENM-owned broadcaster Mnet is facing legal action as its talent show Produce X 101 comes under fire for alleged vote manipulation. Seoul-based legal firm MAST Law & Consulting is representing a group of 272 viewers who have filed a legal complaint against the South Korean music channel, accusing Mnet of fraud and obstruction of business, and alleging that the business altered vote counts following the show’s July finale. Airing from May to July, Produce X 101 is the fourth edition of the Mnet reality show and sees members of the public forming a boy band by voting in for their favourite singers. Of the 101 trainees, who originate from various talent agencies, 11 are ultimately chosen. The viewers behind the complaint claim to have noticed a recurring pattern in the votes – each of which costs around 8 cents per text-in vote – for certain contestants. According to The Korea Herald, the top contestant received 29,978 more votes than the runner-up, with the same gap recurring for pairs of other contestants.

1. Sulli and Ahn Jae hyun & Po
Sulli shared in 'Reply Night' how she was processing a sue against malicious commenter and found out that person currently studying in a good university and she thought she doesn't want to ruin that person's life with criminal record and pulled back the case. That breaks my heart so bad seeing Sulli has a big fat heart yet keyboard warrior (K-nets & International fans) hate her incessantly. Sulli met with Ahn Jaehyun before in a movie, Fashion King. After that project, they are still keep in contact and be friend with each other. Actor Ahn Jae Hyun expressed his heavy heart after hearing news of Sulli’s death.

He posted on his Instagram,
This can’t be it, it can’t be…right? The internet…the articles are all strange aren’t they…I have no sense of reality right now …I’m strange because I’m taking too many medications right? I’m the strange one…

Moral of this sad history: If you don’t have anything good to say, stay quiet. Words carry impact. So use them right or don’t. PLEASE BE KIND. If you don't like an idol, just be silent and don't throw hates- idols are humans too. Depression has no face, you wont even realize that a beautiful smile has a very heavy pain behind it. Everyone is fighting a battle

This is another warning to people who love to bash idols. They may be smiling outside but it kills them inside. U don't know what idols felt so please stop making fun of them.

Just two examples of what it's like to live with mental illness in many Asian communities. There is so much stigma & ppl worry too about how society will view you.
SM Entertainment statement They are sorry for the terrible news They confirm Sulli has left this world It's an unbelievable situation, they are full of sorrow They ask for privacy for her family They wish for no groundless things to be said about her Suli went on a yearlong hiatus in 2014 after being the subject of hateful online comments and rumors. Sulli was an idol who received backlash with everything she did and hate for small things that didn’t make sense. A brave and strong woman who lived her authentic life in a judgmental society. When she returned the following year, she left the group and turned to acting. She was the host of JTBC’s “Night of Hate Comments” variety show.

Your mental health is so much more important than another's pov. You deserve the help, the support and all the love. If you or someone you know is struggling, please call your local hotline/seek out help. There are people who are there to listen to you.

Last year she was at 4th place. Taeyeon has gone from 2nd place to 4th place. Sunmi climbed from 7th place to 3rd place. Taemin has climbed from 9th place to 5th place.

Favorite Groups
Throughout the census there have been two groups fighting neck and neck for the top spot of r/kpop’s favorite group. And, for the first time, we welcome TWICE to the top of the throne! They were voted by 36.4% of our subreddits users. They just narrowly beat Red Velvet, which were voted by 35.8%. Only 46 votes differentiated these two groups. (The mods may have been taking bets on this in the final days of the census. . .)
