Crocodile babies, called hatchlings, are about 30 cm long. They stay with their mom for up to
two years.
A Nile crocodile mom makes her nest deep in the ground near a river. She lays about 50 eggs there, then guards them well to make sure they’re safe. When she hears a chirping sound she knows that the babies are hatching and has to dig them out and carries them to the water.
